On April 27ththrough April 29th, three generations of the offspring of William G. Muller (The Colonel) and Mary Logan Mair Muller (Polly) and their families will gather in Atlanta, Georgia for the 2018 Muller Reunion.
The celebrations of the greater Wm G Muller family may have started in 1965 when The Colonel and Polly flew to Washington D.C. to celebrate their 50thwedding anniversary, which was commemorated with photographs, an album of stories and drawings done by Bill Muller, Jr., and various oral histories.
The last, previous reunion occurred nearly forty years later in 2004 in Alexandria, Virginia and included direct descendants, relatives from two of the Colonel’s brothers (George and Charlie) and more distant relative, Hans, still residing in the ancestral home of Heinrich Muller, father of The Colonel and an émigré to the United States—Allendorf, Hesse, Germany.
The Muller family patronymic suggests that the family history is a linear projection from the small town of Allendorf in the state of Hesse in central Germany. In fact, Mary Logan Mair hailed from Kilmarnock, Scotland, just south of Glasgow as did x generations of the families of the Logan, Mair, Campbell, Russell, etc. with maybe a wee adventure in the south of Ireland that added some Irish blood. But that was before Heinrich met and married Mary Jane Durkin, of San Francisco, of solid Irish heritage and a 1st generation American herself. By rough calculation, that the offspring of Colonel and Polly were ½ Scot, ¼ Irish and ¼ German. Who knew?
